Happy 57th, STHS Class of 1956!

Yesterday, When We Were Young.

Yesterday, When We Were Young.

Dear Fellow Classmates of St. Thomas High School, 1956,

Unless I missed the date by a day or two, it was 57 years ago today, on May 25, 1956, that all of us, and more than a few now of our departed brothers, all graduated from dear old St. Thomas High School to live our lives and grow and love and test our dreams and survive heartbreak and come out the other side stronger for having come through each learning crisis long enough to have harvested all its lessons.

Time bends strangely into irony, with events seeming, more and more, long ago and only yesterday, in the same flash point of recollection.

Fifty-Seven Years! Where has the time gone, friends?

So long ago ~ so near at hand,

It’s not for us ~ to understand,

The dreams that lived ~ the loves that clung,

To us, last night – when we were young.

Happy Memorial Day, Fellow Eagles!

Hope to see all of you again soon!

Love and Peace to all of you now ~ and to all others who understand the harvest of this experience over time,

As Always ~ Regards ~ Bill McCurdy

Congratulations Bill, very happy and honored that you share something so meaningful with all of us. In 57 I was pushing plastic cars in the dirt living in the Heights.

  2. Rob Sangster Says:

Thanks for your thoughtful note, Bill. It wasn’t until six months ago that it was brought to my attention that I was not immortal, not even bullet proof. Since then, I’ve paid much even more attention to how I invest my time, and what I can accomplish and contribute. Still plenty of time to be both responsible and playful.
    Cheers, Rob

  3. Patrick Callahan Says:

Thanks Bill – as I look back on it all – those were probably our “best days” – take care of yourself and keep up the good work.

Congratulations Bill and others of 1956 class!

    Learned a lot there too.
