  1. stanfromtacoma Says:

Houston was the starting point for Pat Gillick who was a Paul Richards hire. The Oriole Way is famous for Earl Weaver and others but with Richards and Gillick it extended all the way to Houston. Something tells me that if Houston had kept Pat that the World Series would have made an appearance there well before the first years of the 21st century.

  2. Tom Hunter Says:

Harry Craft bridged the transition from minor league to major league baseball as the last manager of the Houston Buffs and the first manager of the Houston Colt .45s.

  3. emmettmcauliffe Says:

Salty Parker is from East St. Louis Illinois. That much-maligned city has produced more than its share of famous celebrities, including major leaguers like Bob Turley, Mike Garcia, Hank “Sarge” Bauer and the immortal Hank Schmulbach.

  4. Cliff Blau Says:

Interesting that the Astros had a winning record from Harry Walker in 1968 to Cecil Cooper in 2009: 3383 wins and 3210 losses.
