Top Ten Reasons for The Astros Record Losing Year
10) The other teams had much better players in 2013.
9) Reason # 10 was also true during the club’s previous record losing years of 2012 and 2011.
8) The Astros are getting “better” at breaking bad.
7) The club is rebuilding. Nobody wins when they are rebuilding.
6) The club misses Carlos Lee, but Chris Carter is working hard at fulfilling that role on the cheap.
5) The DH. All the good ones play for other teams.
4} The Astros got to the World Series in 2005. That’s enough winning for one century.
3) It’s being in the much tougher American League that keeps the Astros down.
2) Baseball is a business. Sometimes businesses have to take a hit for the company profit line.
1) The Astros did their darndest to keep this horrible record year a secret, but, somehow, 900 people found a way to see their games on TV – and they told everybody else.

I prefer to say the Astros lead the entire league in many categories!
numer of games lost – number of strike outs – I could go on……
WE NEED TO BE POSITIVE IN OUR ATTITUDES – positive it can’t get any worse (I know – don’t tempt “can’t”) There is always next year

Wonderful list, Buff; item #1 is nothing but the truth, and I laughed long and loud over it. They surely should not whine about the lack of viewers when they willfully denied so many the opportunity to tune in.

You said it all—-No need to say more other than that their young players are getting their experience at the top instead of the Minors! There is always next year——-a true fan’s lament!

I think we could probably find 100 reasons if we half-tried. Having no bullpen helps count, but I think the point about getting to the world series in 2005 says it all–at least it did as far as Drayton was concerned. All I can say is I’m glad Jim Deshaies kept his sanity by getting out of here, and that Bill Brown cut out the road trips. That said, Alan Ashby lost a lot of his credibility by raving every time a new player came up and actually made a good play, merely to fall apart later. Only place in baseball where you can pay Major League prices and see a minor league team. I see this taking another 5 years.
